halloween blog

Today is Halloween. In class we watched a video of a Swedish guy talk about population and income put together in one graph. It was over a period of 200 years and we watched how the industrial revolution helped increase the average income and lifespan of a person. Every single country in the world was on this graph. The size of the circle of each country tells you how largely populated the countries are. All of the countries used to have an average lifespan of 40 years or lower. Once the wars were over and the industrial revolution started, the population, lifespan, and income increased dramatically.

10/30/19

Today in class we finished going over the test. Again, I am happy with my grade and hopefully I can bring it up to an A but probably not because there Is only two days left. After that we proceeded to talk about population pyramids. Last class we had to take notes on it by ourselves but today we took notes and watched a video as a whole. The population pyramid tracks how many people are of what age and what gender they are. It compares the two genders. You can Tell you whether the population is increasing fast, slow or decresing.

10/28/19

Today in class we took notes by ourselves for twenty minutes on population pyramids. A population pyramid is measuring how many people of a certain area are what age. Usually these pyramids go by 5 year intervals. You can accurately see how many people are what age in relation to what year. We also got our tests back today. One of the tests we got back was from a while ago. I got a 100 on it and it was pretty easy. Another tesr we got back was the one we took last week. I got a 92 on it. I am happy with my grade because I got an A. I now have an 87 in this class and I really hope I can bring it up to an A.

10/25/19

Today in class we took a quiz. It was a thirty three question quiz I'm pretty sure. It was kind of easy because I studied for it. Hopefully I did really good so I can bring my 85 up to an A if that's even possible considering we only have a week left in the first quarter. My grades are just ok the quarter. I've had a lot on my plate because of soccer. Most nights I don't get home until around seven or after that. I hope that when soccer season is over which today is our last game and we have no more practices that I will have more time to study and work on school resulting in getting better grades. I am in all honors classes and in STEAM so it is pretty tuff. Hopefully this quix helped me bring my grade up even a little bit.

10/24/19

Today in class we reviewed for the test. We talked about how we have we have to know how to use the cia website and have to know how to find facts fairly quickly.  As we went over the questions and reviewed I felt that I knew most of the things. Some of the definitions I need to study for because I don't remember all of them. Some of the definitions are, rate of natural increase is the death rate minus the birth rate. The birth rate how many people are born per every 1000 people. The death rate is how many people die per every 1000 people. The Infant mortality rate is how many babies die before the age of 1 per every 1000 people. There are a lot more definitions that I need to study for.

10/22/19

Today in class we went over the homework from last night(the previous blog). We talked about different questions about people around the world. Some of them being how many people don't have the chance to live with electricity. Some more things we talked about was how many people get to live with the internet, or the gdp per capita of different countries. The cia website is very interesting and a very useful tool to use if you need to find valid information on different countries or places around the world. The homework assignment also took me forever to do as it took me a long time to locate the information of every single question. I need to get more use to the website to make the test on it easier for me.

10/18/19 blog

Today in class we discussed birth rate, death rate and rate of natural increase. A birth rate is number of births per every 1000 people. The death rate is how many people die per every 1000 people.  The rate of natural increase is when you subtract the death rate minus the birth rate. We learned that in well developed countries most of the time their rate of natural increase is very low compared to third world countries such as countries in Africa as they have among the highest rate of natural selection in the world. We learned that an immigrant is persons that entering the country where as an emigrant is of persons that exit the country. Net migration rate is the difference between persons entering the country minus the number of persons exiting the countries

10/15/19 blog

Today in class we continued along the discussion of population and death. We went more on the lines of life expectancy and how long people live and why. 10000 plus years ago there wasn't even a billion people on earth. Now there is over eight billion and its climbing fast. By the time I reach 50-60 years old there could very well be 10 billion or more. There is no way of knowing how many people the earth can handle. Eventually it isn't going to be stable between pollution and global warming, and just room itself for people to live.  We talked about how long peoples life expectancy's are based on when they are from. For example now there is a lot more unhealthy food and a lot of peoples diets are worse then they were a long time ago. But also back then there weren't as many vaccines and medicine advancements as there are today. You really never know what's going to happen and when its going to happen so its near impossible to predict.

10/11/19

Today In class we went over people around the world. We talked about population. There are around 7.7 billion people in the world. The largest populated area is china. The second largest is India. They both set a limit of children you are allowed to have. The third largest is us, the united states. We are a well developed, and futuristic country, but we also aren't over populated. We also talked about birth rate and death rate. One person is born every eight seconds. One person dies every eleven seconds. This means that the population will always continue to grow. Since there are more people being born then dying, it has to go up.  It was also the pep rally and powder puff game today. Which means we got out early to do them. It was a fun day and hopefully homecoming is fun too.

10/10/19

Today in class we got our tests back and went over them. I got a C on my test and I wish I got a higher score. I got 8 questions wrong. The test seemed ok when I was taking it but I guess I should have studied more. The average score for our class was a 75. Since it was hard test and my grade was close to the average I think it is okay. Also since there were multiple questions that were tuff and we didn't learn the scores for the tests are getting curved by two questions which is probably worth like 5-10 percent. Which means ill have a B. I am satisfied with a B.

10/8/19 blog

Today in class we took a test on time zones and coordinates. It was fairly easy but I do think I got some wrong. I studied for a while but I probably could have done it more. Since I failed the pop quiz yesterday I need a really good grade on this. The questions were pretty much right off of the PowerPoint that we were given which is what I studied  off of so that helped me a lot. Today is also character day for spirit week. I didn't dress up because I didn't know what to do. I couldn't think of a thing to dress up as. A lot of people didn't dress up today.

10/7/19

Today in class we finished the presentations on abolishing or maintaining time zones. My position on this is I think we should maintain time zones because the whole world is already used to it and using time zones. If we changed them it would be chaos and a huge disaster. Also there is no need to change them because they are already working and there is nothing wrong with it. Why would yiu change something that you don't need to? Why would you go through all of that trouble of getting the whole world on to this system of time if its really not going to benefit us? Also, we had a pop quiz about time zones and latitude and longitude. I got a horrible grade and I really need to study for the test tomorrow because if I don't then im going to fail.

10/2/19 blog

Today in class we researched about time zones. We are having a big class debate next class on whether time zones should be a thing or should be abolished. I'm in the neutral group right now so I have to research both sides. I don't know which I agree with. On one side the whole world is already used to having time zones so it would take a lot of chaos and time to change our ways. On the other hand, it would be more practical if the entire world was on one set time vs 24 different times. Since I don't know which side to take I am going to let each side try and persuade me into joining them.

10/1/19 blog

Today in class we took a test on north, central and south American countries. I studied a lot for this so it was pretty easy which hopefully means I did well on it. I need a good grade on this quiz because I have a b in human geo and I want to bring it up to an A. After the quiz, which took about 15 minutes, we continued to take notes on time zones. We talked about how there are 2 different time zones around the world. We also talked about how they aren't directly, evenly split. Depending the the boundary of a certain area, the time zone can be extended. Then we talked about our opinions on military time vs normal pm, am time. A lot of people say military time should be used and I agree but it would just take some getting used to.
