introduction/conclusion

There are many factors that go into the overall well being of countries such as population, migration, economy, birth rates, death rates. Three countries that are suffering from this are japan, India, and mexico. Japan is located in asia. india is located in south asia. Mexico is located in north America. Japans problem is population declining, indias problem is the population increasing, and mexicos problem is the net migration rate. There are solutions to these problems but it would be hard to reverse.

studying for the exam essay

A country with a huge problem in todays world is India. India is way over-populated. There population is 1,296,834,042. No matter where you go in India it is always going to be crowded. This is due to their birth rate being higher then their death rate. Their rate of natural increase is 10.62/1000. That mean their population is rapidly growing still. As they are over populated right now if their population continues to grow like this they will be too deep in the hole to reverse the affects.
Another country with a big problem is The central African republic. The GDP per capitta hear is 700 dollars. This country is very poor. As the people living in it don't make enough money to survive, they need to find a solution to this problem. With the country being this poor, they aren't able to buy essential things or actually try and move up in the world and start to develop. It also means it cant produce goods and sell goods. this means it wont be making any money so the country is essentially stuck with a bad economy until they can make something out of nothing.
The third country that is facing challenges is chad. Chad is a mess. one of there problems is there economy. Their gdp is 2,300. This is extremely low and people cant really survive and get the essential needs of life with this kind of money. Another problem that chad is facing is their life expectancy. Their life expectancy Is 50.2 years. This is low as most countries are above 70-75. Chads infant mortality rate is 71.7 deaths/1000 live births. That means their medicine and hygiene is very poor. it isn't good if that many babies are dying along with people only living to age 50. With a combination of multiple factors, chad is in a very bad state right now and they need to try and fix their problems, starting with the smaller ones.

12/9/19

Today in class we took a quiz. The quiz was on demographic transition. I studied a little so I feel like I should get a pretty good grade. There were questions that I didn't study for on the quiz though. I studied just the chart and the stages but there were a lot of other things on it that I wish I knew so I could've studied for them as well. I also need to start studying for all of my exams. They are all only a week away and I'm really underprepared. Ill start studying tonight and throughout the rest of the week. Some things from the quiz were knowing the demographic transition, knowing all about birth rate, death rate, rate of natural increase and total population.

12/6/19

Today in class we reviewed for the quiz on Monday. We went over the demographic transitions graph and took notes on it. We then watched a khan academy video on the demographic transition. Hopefully I am ready for the quiz.

Khan academy
1) you get your growth rate of a country by taking the current population minus the initial population then divide that by the initial population then multiply that by 100
2) The individual countries take on children play a big role in what stage they are in and what their growth rate is. Religion, type of work and the population can play a part in this.
3) The longer time goes on the further along the stages the countries will be. For example, in the 1800's pretty much every country was in stage one. Then starting in the early 1900's the countries started to progress into stage two. It will continue along with this as time goes on.
Kim smith
1)  Back before the industrial revolution, the worlds population only grew about 67,000 each year. Now the worlds population grows about 67,000 people every 6 hours.
2) Children were defined as assets. The children helped out around the house, and if you lived on a farm, which most people did, then they would be a crucial part of running the farm. That is why a lot of people had so many kids back before the industrial revolution and why most countries were still in stage one.
3) Stage three is when children change from assets to liabilities. They become an economic hazard and take up a lot of time. This changed from children helping out their families with economic needs and they were pretty important to have a lot of them.
populations grow
1) There a two main factors that influence population change. One of them is rate of natural increase, and the second one is net migration rate.
2) In many countries the main factor of population not declining is migration. If there were no migration then in countries like America for instance, the population would be declining instead of rising
3) The stages of the countries also relates to the money of the country and the resources. If the country is poor and there aren't a lot of resources, like African countries, then they would be in stage two. On the other hand, countries like japan and Italy are wealthy and have lots a resources, so they are higher up in the stages. The countries like this will be in stage four or the undefined stage five.

12/3/19

Today in class we talked about the demographic transitive. We watched two videos on this as they discussed the different map and how they relate to each stages. Each stage has different things in it that involves the crude birth rate, crude death rate, and rate of natural increase. There are four stages, but there is an undefined fifth stage. The fifth stage has countries like japan and Italy in it.

12/2/19

Today in class we read a section out of a textbook and highlighted important information. Since we had to do it by ourselves, we probably learned more and got more out of it. We then went over our test from last week. II didn't study for it as I didn't know about the test so I didn't get a good grade.

11/25/19

Today in class we took a test on the 5 major religions. I forgot about the test so I didn't study. luckily we had time before we took to go over our notes. I think I did okay on it. Although I think I did okay I wanted a really good grade so im going to have to step it up.

11/21/19

Today in class we went over religions. We talked about Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, budism, and islam. he largest religion is Christianity and the smallest one Is Judaism. Jews have been persecuted for many, many years. They have been pushed away and killed. That is one of the reasons Judaism isn't as big as some of the other religions.  Islam will eventually become the worlds most populous religion. The only non monotheism religion out of these is Hinduism.

11/22/19

Today in class we reviewed for the test. A girl in class had a quizlet that we used. On the test, which is Monday, there are 25 questions on the religions Christianity, buddism, Hinduism, Judaism, and islam. I have to study the powerpoint and quizlet to get a good grade.

11/19/19

Today in class we got our tests back. I got an 88 on it. Its okay but I should have done better and I made stupid mistakes. We also went over the test and all of the questions. One of the questions I got wrong was the us GDP per capitta. There were a couple other stupid mistakes I made. I Wish I would have done better so my overall grade would be better

11/18/19

Today in class we took a test. I forgot about the test so I didn't study for it. I think I did pretty good on it. There was only two question I didn't know the answer to out of 40 questions. one of those questions was what country had a GDP per cappita of 59000. The answer was united states but I put japan because I didn't know. Hopefully I got a good grade on it because I really want to get straight a's this year and this could help me get an a for this class.

11/15/19

Today in class we watched two videos. One of them we watched before. That one was on population periods. That video was to review for the test on Tuesday. I have to study for that. Some of the things I need to know are the males are blue and are always on the right. I also need to know what type of graph or period means and which one stands for rapid growth, slow growth, and declining. The other video was jeopardy and we just watched that for fun.

11/13/19

Today in class we finished the presentations on the developing and post industrial countries. I learned a lot of new information on all the different countries. We had one presentation today and we did the rest of them yesterday. My countries were Japan and Vietnam. After the presentation, we had to get a piece of paper with our group members name and give everyone a grade, including ourselves. I am not too worried about my grade because I feel as if I did Farley well on it. Hopefully I got an A on it because I got a really bad grade on one of the pop quizzes.

11/12/19

Today in class we presented our post industrial, and developing presentation. For my slide I had to present the solution to japans problems. The problem for japan was their population. The solution that I had was to have immigrants from other Asian counties to immigrant into japan, but Japan also has to offer and make good deals for the immigrants to make them want to com into their country. Here are some of the things that I said in my presentation:
  • Immigrants could be welcomed into Japan in efforts to increase the population.
  •  If Japan wants to keep its cultures as similar as possible, then it should welcome in the Chinese, or other Asian countries to live there.
  • The prime minister is trying to make moving to Japan sound appealing by offering good jobs to immigrants.

11/11/19

Today in class we continued to work on our project for our developed countries and post industrialized countries. I am presenting the solution for japans problem. The problem for japan is their population. The solution is to have people immigrate to their country and fill in jobs and make their population grow.  I am done my slide and I just have to practice what I am going to say in class. It has to be at least 2 minutes long.

11/7/19

Today in class we worked on a power point with a group. There were team captains and they chose who they wanted in their group. After we were in our groups, we had to choose two different countries. One of the countries had to be post industrial. the other one had to be developing. we chose japan and Vietnam. We got done half of the research on the Vietnam side but we still have to do the japan.

11/6/19

Today in class we went over question that were going to be on a pop quiz but we never ended up having it. The questions that we went over were related to population and migration. For example one of the questions was which country produces the most oil, the answer would be the united states. Another question that was asked was which country has the highest population, the answer is china. Another question was what is the population of the world. The answer to that would be 7.6 billion. If it was a quiz instead of just a review, I wouldn't have done very good on it, I didn't know about half of the answers so it wouldn't have been good.

11/5/19 cia facts blog

1) India has a population of 1,296,834,042.  this is important because there population relative to the actual size of the country is horrible. There population is very dense. They need to do something about their population before it gets to a point that it is beyond help.
2) Angola has a birth rate of 43.7 children for every woman. This is an African country which is developing. As they don't have things like birth control or condoms, they have lots of kids. A lot of countries in Africa don't have a lot of supplies or food. If they can barely feed and have enough water for the people that are already living, how are they suppose to have enough for the 6.35 babies for every woman .
3)Lebanon has a net migration rate of -40.3. This means that somethin must be really wrong with their country. This is a problem because this that many people keep leaving then one day they aren't going to have enough people to function. Since everyone wants to leave, they aren't going to have enough people to have jobs or to even have a stable economy.
4) The central African republic has a GDP per cappita of 700 dollars. This is a huge problem. This means the average income of one person per year is 700. This is not enough to create a live or a living. This is less then most people in the united states make in 2 weeks. People wont be able to buy the essential things you need to live. They need to fix so that the people that live there can actually live comfortably.
5)The united states has 13,315 airports. This is great because it makes us a good stop between flights. When people are flying, most of the time they don't fly for the whole flight, they split it so it is less time on each plane. It also makes the US a good and easy destination to fly to because you could pretty much fly anywhere you wanted. It makes it easy for people to move around and visit places or people. It also probably helps our economy out a lot as it makes a lot of money for us.

1)united states-slow growth
2)Angola-rapid growth
3)Chad-rapid growth
4)lybia-rapid growth
5)niger-rapid growth

11/1/19

Today in class we continued to watch the video of population, average lifespan, and average income put into a graph. As we watched it we were told we had a quiz on it so we had to remember everything. After the video we took the quiz and I didn't do good on it. I got a 3/10 on it. I am not happy with my grade especially since I have to start second quarter with it. the material in the video was simple though. Professor Rosling gave us a unique visualization of population and income trends over the last 200 years, and he came to an optimistic conclusion. In his words, we have become "an entirely new, converging, world," one where "everyone can make it to the healthy, wealthy corner."

halloween blog

Today is Halloween. In class we watched a video of a Swedish guy talk about population and income put together in one graph. It was over a period of 200 years and we watched how the industrial revolution helped increase the average income and lifespan of a person. Every single country in the world was on this graph. The size of the circle of each country tells you how largely populated the countries are. All of the countries used to have an average lifespan of 40 years or lower. Once the wars were over and the industrial revolution started, the population, lifespan, and income increased dramatically.

10/30/19

Today in class we finished going over the test. Again, I am happy with my grade and hopefully I can bring it up to an A but probably not because there Is only two days left. After that we proceeded to talk about population pyramids. Last class we had to take notes on it by ourselves but today we took notes and watched a video as a whole. The population pyramid tracks how many people are of what age and what gender they are. It compares the two genders. You can Tell you whether the population is increasing fast, slow or decresing.

Monday, October 28, 2019

10/28/19

Today in class we took notes by ourselves for twenty minutes on population pyramids. A population pyramid is measuring how many people of a certain area are what age. Usually these pyramids go by 5 year intervals. You can accurately see how many people are what age in relation to what year. We also got our tests back today. One of the tests we got back was from a while ago. I got a 100 on it and it was pretty easy. Another tesr we got back was the one we took last week. I got a 92 on it. I am happy with my grade because I got an A. I now have an 87 in this class and I really hope I can bring it up to an A.

10/25/19

Today in class we took a quiz. It was a thirty three question quiz I'm pretty sure. It was kind of easy because I studied for it. Hopefully I did really good so I can bring my 85 up to an A if that's even possible considering we only have a week left in the first quarter. My grades are just ok the quarter. I've had a lot on my plate because of soccer. Most nights I don't get home until around seven or after that. I hope that when soccer season is over which today is our last game and we have no more practices that I will have more time to study and work on school resulting in getting better grades. I am in all honors classes and in STEAM so it is pretty tuff. Hopefully this quix helped me bring my grade up even a little bit.

10/24/19

Today in class we reviewed for the test. We talked about how we have we have to know how to use the cia website and have to know how to find facts fairly quickly.  As we went over the questions and reviewed I felt that I knew most of the things. Some of the definitions I need to study for because I don't remember all of them. Some of the definitions are, rate of natural increase is the death rate minus the birth rate. The birth rate how many people are born per every 1000 people. The death rate is how many people die per every 1000 people. The Infant mortality rate is how many babies die before the age of 1 per every 1000 people. There are a lot more definitions that I need to study for.

10/22/19

Today in class we went over the homework from last night(the previous blog). We talked about different questions about people around the world. Some of them being how many people don't have the chance to live with electricity. Some more things we talked about was how many people get to live with the internet, or the gdp per capita of different countries. The cia website is very interesting and a very useful tool to use if you need to find valid information on different countries or places around the world. The homework assignment also took me forever to do as it took me a long time to locate the information of every single question. I need to get more use to the website to make the test on it easier for me.

10/18/19 blog

Today in class we discussed birth rate, death rate and rate of natural increase. A birth rate is number of births per every 1000 people. The death rate is how many people die per every 1000 people.  The rate of natural increase is when you subtract the death rate minus the birth rate. We learned that in well developed countries most of the time their rate of natural increase is very low compared to third world countries such as countries in Africa as they have among the highest rate of natural selection in the world. We learned that an immigrant is persons that entering the country where as an emigrant is of persons that exit the country. Net migration rate is the difference between persons entering the country minus the number of persons exiting the countries

10/15/19 blog

Today in class we continued along the discussion of population and death. We went more on the lines of life expectancy and how long people live and why. 10000 plus years ago there wasn't even a billion people on earth. Now there is over eight billion and its climbing fast. By the time I reach 50-60 years old there could very well be 10 billion or more. There is no way of knowing how many people the earth can handle. Eventually it isn't going to be stable between pollution and global warming, and just room itself for people to live.  We talked about how long peoples life expectancy's are based on when they are from. For example now there is a lot more unhealthy food and a lot of peoples diets are worse then they were a long time ago. But also back then there weren't as many vaccines and medicine advancements as there are today. You really never know what's going to happen and when its going to happen so its near impossible to predict.

10/11/19

Today In class we went over people around the world. We talked about population. There are around 7.7 billion people in the world. The largest populated area is china. The second largest is India. They both set a limit of children you are allowed to have. The third largest is us, the united states. We are a well developed, and futuristic country, but we also aren't over populated. We also talked about birth rate and death rate. One person is born every eight seconds. One person dies every eleven seconds. This means that the population will always continue to grow. Since there are more people being born then dying, it has to go up.  It was also the pep rally and powder puff game today. Which means we got out early to do them. It was a fun day and hopefully homecoming is fun too.

10/10/19

Today in class we got our tests back and went over them. I got a C on my test and I wish I got a higher score. I got 8 questions wrong. The test seemed ok when I was taking it but I guess I should have studied more. The average score for our class was a 75. Since it was hard test and my grade was close to the average I think it is okay. Also since there were multiple questions that were tuff and we didn't learn the scores for the tests are getting curved by two questions which is probably worth like 5-10 percent. Which means ill have a B. I am satisfied with a B.

10/8/19 blog

Today in class we took a test on time zones and coordinates. It was fairly easy but I do think I got some wrong. I studied for a while but I probably could have done it more. Since I failed the pop quiz yesterday I need a really good grade on this. The questions were pretty much right off of the PowerPoint that we were given which is what I studied  off of so that helped me a lot. Today is also character day for spirit week. I didn't dress up because I didn't know what to do. I couldn't think of a thing to dress up as. A lot of people didn't dress up today.

10/7/19

Today in class we finished the presentations on abolishing or maintaining time zones. My position on this is I think we should maintain time zones because the whole world is already used to it and using time zones. If we changed them it would be chaos and a huge disaster. Also there is no need to change them because they are already working and there is nothing wrong with it. Why would yiu change something that you don't need to? Why would you go through all of that trouble of getting the whole world on to this system of time if its really not going to benefit us? Also, we had a pop quiz about time zones and latitude and longitude. I got a horrible grade and I really need to study for the test tomorrow because if I don't then im going to fail.

10/2/19 blog

Today in class we researched about time zones. We are having a big class debate next class on whether time zones should be a thing or should be abolished. I'm in the neutral group right now so I have to research both sides. I don't know which I agree with. On one side the whole world is already used to having time zones so it would take a lot of chaos and time to change our ways. On the other hand, it would be more practical if the entire world was on one set time vs 24 different times. Since I don't know which side to take I am going to let each side try and persuade me into joining them.

10/1/19 blog

Today in class we took a test on north, central and south American countries. I studied a lot for this so it was pretty easy which hopefully means I did well on it. I need a good grade on this quiz because I have a b in human geo and I want to bring it up to an A. After the quiz, which took about 15 minutes, we continued to take notes on time zones. We talked about how there are 2 different time zones around the world. We also talked about how they aren't directly, evenly split. Depending the the boundary of a certain area, the time zone can be extended. Then we talked about our opinions on military time vs normal pm, am time. A lot of people say military time should be used and I agree but it would just take some getting used to.

9/30/19 blog

Today in class we went over a PowerPoint of latitude and longitude. Latitude is measuring  from north to south but the lines go from east to west. I remember this by thinking a ladder because the word latitude sounds like ladder. You are moving up and down on a ladder but the little stepping things go from left to right. Longitude is measuring from east to west but the lines go from north to south. I remember this by thinking of long. The word longitude sounds like the word long. Long meaning side to side. Longitude isn't parallel whereas latitude is. Longitude lines all meat at the north and south pole. Latitude lines go around the world and are parallel . We have a test tomorrow so I need to study a lot because right now I have a B in this class and I need an A.  In all of my other classes I have an A so I really need to step it up for Human geo.

9/26/19 blog

Today in class we learned about situation. Situation is where places are compared to things around it. Its direct directions to a place. An example is turn left at the second red light then drive for 2 miles and make a left at the yellow brick bank. This relates to geography because it is a way of geographically knowing where everything is and how to get to it. We talked about the question how do geographers describe where things are. This is an answer to that question. They use situation. They describe where things are using situation, Directly giving directions or telling what is around that area. We didn't finish our lesson because the class was shortened so we had to rush.

9/25/19

Today in class we tried to answer the question of, how do geographers describe where things are located. We took notes on words like site.Site is the physical character of a place. It can include climate, water source, topography, soil, vegetation, latitude and elevation. We took notes all class. In the beginning of class the wifi was down so we barely finished our lesson. We had to rush through it. Some thing that I remember from class was how they expanded new York to twice its normal size by piling trash and old broken ships up. Once it was high enough they could put rock and dirt on it. This is part of the reason why new York is so big and why it is big enough to be a world redound place.

9/19/19 blog

Peters map is a more accurate version of the flat map when compared to Mercator's map. Mercator's map contains a more accurate size of the individual continents compared to each other. Although it looks a little bizarre, it is better then the Mercator's map. Since it is more accurate, schools should be using it, and regular people should be using it in their everyday life. The challenge of any flat map is to portray the round earth on a flat surface. It is impossible. It cant be done. Each map has its own strengths and corresponding differences. Which map you want to use depends on what you are using the map for.  The Mercator's map distorts the size of land masses but the general shape of the continents are what they actually look like, where as peters map distorts or elongates the land masses to make them look non realistic. In the Mercator's map, the poles are completely wrong. The farther away from the equator you get, the shorter around the earth is. In this map, the farther away you get from the equator the bigger the land masses are compared to their actual size in reality. Again, it is impossible to accurately represent the third dimension world on a two dimensional surface.

9/18/19 blog

Today in class we continued to discuss maps. We talked about how peters map should be used and we used Socrates' method of critical thinking in that we formed our own opinions on these map topics. We also got our quizzes back. I am happy with my grade but I feel that I couldn't have done better if I prepared more. I only studied the night before the test because I didn't find the topic that hard. I should've studied more but I know next time what I have to do. It was good for the first test. I had a good day too. WE didn't do tons of work in any of my classes and I don't have much homework. We also played Calvert hall today in a conference game and got killed. I was expecting it thought because we aren't that good and Calvert hall is

Today in class we discussed maps. We talked about how the common flat map isn't accurate at all. Peters map looks stretched out yet the size of the continents are way more accurate. When you are traveling around the world you the longest part is at the equator and the closest or smallest travel is at the poles. The flat map cant display the round world no matter how it is arranged or displayed. Most schools and just people in general use a normal flat map. If you were to use one instead of a globe then you should use peters maps because the size of countries relative to others is nearly perfect. Even though it doesn't display the proportions of a globe, it cant because it is a flat map.

Today in class we had our first test. Last night I studied a little bit but I also had to study for two other test for today, I had homework for other classes, and I had a game so I didn't get home until late. The test was fairly easy except for two questions that I forgot the answers to. I think I will get a pretty good grade on it. We had to do two essays. They were pretty easy. I hope I got a good grade on this test because I have a 75 in the class right now from not doing a blog one night. Since im in STEAM I have to keep all my grades for all of my classes above an 85 so I cant afford to get bad grades on anything. I had an honors biology test today and I have a math quiz later. I got a b on the biology test and hopefully a good grade on the math quiz and geography test.

Today in class we talked about secretes. He started to make people think about things other then Greek philosophy. Since he lived in Athens and he was going against the beliefs of the Greek philosophy. He had a trial as the punishment of death. There were 500 juris. There were 279 people that voted guilty and 221 that voted innocent. He admitted to doing what he did but he claimed they should be rewarding him instead of punishing him. His friends convinced the guards to turn their heads and let him escape. When secretes was told he could escape he said no because he believed in the new system of the government. It was a form of democracy and if he escaped it was not following the rules. He faced his punishment and drank the poison which caused him to have a very slow and painful death.

9/9/19 blog

Today in class we continued to learn about Elbert Hubbard. We reviewed The Message to Garcia. Again, he thinks people are just flat out lazy and no good. He thinks people wont do anything for anyone except when threatened, physical abuse occurs, or when the"boss is watching." People aren't good for the most part. It is very rare to see a good individual. Elbert was also a very good writer. HIs vocabulary was so good it makes it really hard to read and understand it. It was so well written that people still refer to it over a hundred year later. It is a very popular short story, sold in 37 different languages and used all around the world.

A Message to Garcia is a short story about how people are not good. People only do things when it benefits them, for physical violence, or they are getting threatened. It says People will always make excuses to try and get out of what they are told to do. If it does look like they are doing something, as soon as the boss turns their back, they will be lazy and not do what they are told. The author proceeds to say there are some good people out there but they are very rare, and near impossible to find. This short story was written in the 1800 and is still read and used today. It still applies to all the people that live in our world today. It was spread throughout the whole world and was printed in 37 different languages. Nowadays it is most popularly used in the military as slang for taking initiative.

9/5/19 Blog

High school is thought to be the most challenging period of our education. Not only do classes get harder, but we need to manage our time, and become more responsible and independent. The passage, "A Message to Garcia" explains that the world needs people who have a great work ethic. It explains that no matter how challenging something is, one should always try their best and be willing to work. This story is great for high schoolers to read because its exactly what we are going through. Most of us are lazy and try to take the easy route or just blow work or classes off completely. Its east to say your going to do it but hard to actually go through with it. Once something gets too hard for people, they quite, and that's not how society should be. I personally am going to do my best throughout high school and try and succeed further down the road.

first day of school blog

The best part of the first day of school was the free mod. Since we didn't have homework I just got to hangout with my friends in the cafeteria. I have a lot of my friends that I already knew in my free mod which makes it so much better. we just ate food the whole mod and talked. The worst part of my day was lunch. I got there a few minutes late so the table that had all the people I usually talk to was all filled up and I ended up sitting with random kids that I didn't know. Hopefully tomorrow I will get to lunch earlier and be able to sit where I want. Over all it was a really good first day, I found all my classes, they were all fairly easy so far, and I like all of my teachers. I don't mind the seat I was given in class. I don't have any sight problems or hearing problems.
